Design Guidelines >>Fonts and Copy
- Web pages should maintain consistent usage of fonts throughout site.
- Web style sheets should be used for heading, sub-headings and body text font style, size and color to insure that each page has a similar appearance.
- Fonts should be easy to read and not be too ornamental, especially when used in the body copy. San-serif fonts to use include styles such as Arial and Helvetica. Serif fonts to use include Times and Garamond.
UM Logo
- The official UMSM logo must appear on every page of the site, either on the upper right hand side or under the left hand side navigation bar.
Navigation
- Navigational link areas must also appear consistently throughout entire site, either on the left side of the page or across the upper portion of the page, or as a combination of the two.
- If used, a search field should accompany the navigation links.
Color & Identity
- Avoid colors and color combination that do not display well across computer platforms and web browsers.
- The site should be consistent in the usage of color and graphic design throughout all of the pages.
- The name of the department, division, center of excellence, lab, etc., should be found throughout the site within the design parameters to aide the user in identifying the site.
Footer Information
Header Information
- Medical Web Services will be creating a standard header/navigation bar that will contain the logo and other useful standard links for the UMSM web site.
- Medical Web Services will provide the image and code for inserting this standard navigational header on any site.
